This hands-on course introduces you to the specific skills vital to working in a Transportation Department for film and television. You will learn everything from industry-specific terminology to setting up a proper basecamp as well as integral set protocols. This class applies for any management job on set, whether it’s in utilities, directing, producing or location scouting. You’ll learn the ins and outs of starting and managing film projects.
The Set Construction Intensive course is designed for students who have moderate tool/shop experience to learn the terminology, best practices, and skills to transition into the Construction Department on Motion Picture Productions as Set Carpenters. Students will learn flat, subfloor, ceiling, door, window, and step construction/installation. All these step will culminate with a completed industry standard film set.

This class provides you with a basic understanding and inside look at the day-to-day of the makeup department while on set for a major motion picture! Participants will master proper techniques, such as how to prepare and effectively use set bags, take continuity photos, break down scripts, read call sheets, and sanitation protocol. Participants will delve into industry-specific terms and effective communication while seeing the life of the makeup department come to life!

Come learn from scenic designer, Meghan Buchanan, the basic skills to begin one’s career in the film industry.
Meghan is an Oklahoma-based IATSE 484 Scenic Artist. Meghan was the scenic artist at OCU, the resident scenic designer for Oklahoma Children’s Theater, and the properties supervisor for the OU School of Drama. Prior to her move to Oklahoma, Meghan co-founded Paper Mache Monkey, an art and design studio in New York City. With PMM, Meghan designed and built set pieces, props, and puppets for Broadway Shows, television, and New York Fashion Week. Some of her favorite projects include the Broadway production of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, The Public Theater’s Into the Woods and Hair, Rihanna’s musical set for Saturday Night Live, and a Julia Roberts-themed obstacle course for Billy on the Street. Meghan is proud to be a member of the Tony and Obie award-winning scenic design team for Peter and the Starcatcher. She is excited about the growing opportunities in the Oklahoma Film Industry.

Entertainment Payroll, in partnership with Francis Tuttle and Prairie Surf Studios, and in collaboration with Film Education Institute of Oklahoma, will be hosted online from Sept. 23 – Nov. 4.
This course will be taught by Cecilia Escobar, a payroll accountant with nearly 20 years of experience on major motion pictures, such as Spider-Man 2 (2004), Iron Man 2 (2010), The Greatest Showman (2017), Men in Black II (2002), Dune (2021), and more.
Students will gain a Payroll 101 overview of Area Standards Agreements (ASA) for all unions operating in Oklahoma and distant hires, non-union workers, Directors Guild of America employees, Teamsters, and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) employees.
